Emergency Exit Row Seating

The emergency exit-row seats provide guests with additional leg room. However, you must be able bodied to sit in the emergency exit row for safety reasons.

Transport Canada Requirements for Passengers Seated in an Emergency Exit Row

When you are seated in an exit row, you may be called upon to open the exit and assist fellow passengers in exiting the aircraft if a crew member is unavailable to do so.

Because of this, and for the benefit of all passengers, Transport Canada has established Regulations for exit row requirements.

 If you fall into any of these categories you will not be seated in an emergency exit row.

·         You lack sufficient mobility, strength or dexterity in both arms and hands, and both legs to expeditiously reach the emergency exit, remove obstructions, manipulate the emergency exit, open and stow the exit door, exit expeditiously, and assist others in getting off  the aircraft.

·         You do not understand these instructions, or lack sufficient visual capacity (require aids beyond contact lenses or glasses) or aural capacity (require aids beyond a hearing aid) to understand these and crew member instruction or to impart information orally to others.

·         You have a responsibility such as to a small child or infant

·         You have a nondiscernible condition that might prevent you from performing these functions or a condition that might cause you to suffer bodily harm while performing these functions.

·         You do not wish to perform these instructions.

·         You are less than 16 years of age.

·         You require a seatbelt extension

Other Categories for which exit row seating will be denied

·         You are traveling with pets in cabin

·         You are traveling under medical fare, or have pre boarded

For all other customers who meet Transport Canada Regulations, exit row seating may be available at time of check in.
