Wheelchairs
Guests requiring Wheelchairs: Hawkair will transport guests who are confined to a wheelchair or require wheelchair assistance upon arrival at the airport.
- Type of Service: When you contact our Reservations Department for additional information, we need to know whether you rely completely on a wheelchair for mobility, whether you require it only for long distances and can walk from the door of the aircraft to your seat, or if you only require a wheelchair for distance travel but cannot navigate stairs.
- Wheelchair Allowance: Each guest is permitted to bring, in addition to the free luggage allowance and at no extra charge, one (1) wheelchair to be carried in the cargo compartment of the aircraft. Braces, crutches, and other assisting devices will be accepted free of charge.
- Notification: Hawkair suggests guests with wheelchairs notify us at least 24 hours prior to departure, and check-in 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. This allows us the time to prepare guests in wheelchairs for their flight.
- Documentation: If you have documentation on how to assemble or disassemble your wheelchair, please bring it with you. Alternately, if a friend or family member is taking you to the airport and they are familiar with how to take apart or assemble your wheelchair, please inform the check-in agent at the airport.
- Battery Acceptance: Unfortunately Hawkair can not facilitate a wheelchair that requires a wet or dry cell battery.
- Other Questions: Please contact Hawkair for any additional questions about this service at 1-800-487-1216.
